Bracha, Shmuel


Son of Zohara and Albert, was born on 15.5.1964 in Holon, where he began his elementary studies at the Weizmann elementary school in Holon, where he studied for six years, and later moved to the vocational school in the village Galim, and completed 11 years of schooling, after which Shmuel tried to join the IAF Technical School, and in February 1982 Shmuel enlisted in the IDF. When he completed basic training, he was stationed in the infantry and served as a truck driver. On May 20, 1982 Shmuel was sent by his commanders to transfer food to his unit, which was trained in the field. On the Beit Sahur-Za’tara road, the car he was driving overturned, and he was killed. He was 18 years old when he died. Shmuel was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Holon. He left behind his parents, three brothers and three sisters. In a letter of condolence to his family, his commander wrote: “Shmuel was an exemplary soldier, loved by his friends, and will become a symbol and example among the youth and among the battalion’s fighters.”
