Bracha, Shlomo


Son of Daniel and Dina. He was born in 1928 in Greece and immigrated to Israel in 1933. After completing his studies in elementary school, he was the breadwinner of his mother and four younger siblings. He belonged to the Irgun and was one of those members of the organization who boarded the ship Altalina and showed courage in its activities. Afterward he participated in the War of Independence in the ranks of the IDF, and even when he was in the ranks of the IDF, he dreamed of continuing his studies, but this was not possible for him because he lacked means. His comrades-in-law loved him for his courage and when he was preparing for reserve duty, he said, he was Simcha that certain courses important to state security had been satisfied. Was wounded in the course of his duty, and a few days later, on the 26th of June 1956, died of his wounds. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. He left a wife and two children. His comrades-in-law collected a sum of money and contributed to the creation of a fund in his name for the continuation of the children’s studies.
