Bracha (Brahms), Jacob


Yaakov, son of Yocheved and David Bracha (Brahms), was born in 1927 in the city of Ruse, Bulgaria, where he graduated from the elementary school. In 1944 he immigrated to Eretz Yisrael and joined the youth movement at Kibbutz Mesilot in the Beit Shean Valley. He was active in the Haganah and served as a guard in the Negev. On 16 Tishrei, October 19, 1948, his company set out on a tour of the Negev, where he fell. His burial place is unknown, and a memorial was erected in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
