During his service in Lebanon he experienced great difficulties and often demonstrated heroism and strength He was forced to invest long and strained hours in his capacity as a single sniper in the service of two companies, and Jonathan said on many occasions that he felt that he had found his position in the commando unit, and he succeeded in serving as a fighter, maintaining his sense of pride and duty. , Who aspired to perfection and invested in everything he could do.About three weeks before the incident in Sujud where Jonathan was injured, his company encountered a Hezbollah ambush, and the company commander Tzur Yisraeli was severely injured and Jonathan, who was attached to him as the company’s sniper, , Carried him on his shoulders and rescued him under heavy gunfire at the Reihan outpost, 2 kilometers from where the interception took place. On July 9, 1993, Yonatan was sent to a rescue vehicle to assist another force that was hit by terrorists near the village of Sujud in the eastern sector of the security zone in southern Lebanon. The Rambam Hospital in Haifa, but on August 25, 1993, after two weeks of struggle for his life, he was injured by a lieutenant, Avraham Miller, Sergeant Shachar Rafaeli and Corporal Daniel Ray. Jonathan was laid to rest in the military section of the Tel Mond cemetery. Survived by his parents, sister and brother. He was nineteen when he fell. After his fall he was promoted to sergeant.
