Saleem attended elementary school in his village and in the “Gymnasium of Galilee” high school in the literary track. There, too, he became an outstanding student, a regular investor and completed his studies with a full matriculation certificate. Saleem knew even then that success in school was a guarantee of a fruitful future. In the year he graduated from high school, disaster struck the family and his father died. Salim took on the role of breadwinner and worked hard and devotedly. He managed to reach the rank of manager at his workplace at McDonald’s. His co-worker writes about him that stood out in his diligence, motivation and quick learning. Thanks to his virtues and benefits, and his inner calm, it was not surprising that at the same time as his work, Salim studied at the Haifa College and received a B.A. Criminology and psychology. He chose to study Criminology because of his desire to enlist in the Israel Police and began fulfilling his goal voluntarily to the Civil Guard Tiberias in the Valleys. Salim volunteered to contribute to the state and serve in the army, and in November 2000 he volunteered for the IDF and joined the 13th Battalion of the Golani Brigade, where he successfully completed a paramedics course, and his commander, Major Nir, writes: “Salim, a Golani Brigade fighter, always aspired to excellence , Tried to do the best despite the difficulties he encountered, contributed a great deal and had a positive effect on those around him. Salim did not have to enlist in the army, but as a person and as a citizen he understood that it was his duty to serve the state and to contribute his part. “Corporal Salim Boutros fell in the line of duty on 17 August 2001 at the age of twenty-three. He was laid to rest in the Christian cemetery in the village of Eilabun. Survived by his mother and two brothers. His friends eulogized him: “This is a day that will never be forgotten, a day that we will all remember, a day in which tears flow and we weep bitterly over what happened to our friend Salim.
