Borochov, Itamar (“Sinai”)

Son of Asher and Yehudit. He was born on December 27, 1934 in Tel Aviv. From an early age, he played the cello and even played with his great love for music. He belonged to the “United Movement” from the age of 12 and was active in his company, but did not continue as a teacher and completed his studies at the Shalva High School, after which he enlisted with the training of Ma’ayan Baruch and served in the Nahal Brigade in Ayelet Hashahar. He liked to participate in labor camps and to do agricultural work, and often volunteered for hard work that was not much to be desired. His loved ones also had trips in the country, and there was almost no corner of it, from Metula to Eilat, which he did not walk around, explored and enjoyed. During his service, he underwent several courses and recently attained the rank of lieutenant colonel. He also received various certificates of excellence, including certificates of excellence in the “Four Days Walk”. However, during his entire service he continued to pursue his studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in the Faculty of Mathematics. Everyone loved him because of his good temperament, which he found expression in his smiling eyes and his charming laughter. Was a man of conversation and a lover of culture. Be devoted to his friends and willing to give them everything he had. A few weeks before the Sinai Campaign, a wife took him and with everything that was then available to build his home, he did not refrain from embarking on special training with his soldiers and friends. Out of courage, he went out to his last resort and the commander’s warning against the fire of hell answered: “No bullet will hurt me.” In the same battle over the Mitla Pass, on the 27th of Mershvan 5710 (October 31, 1956), he fell. He was buried in the Military Cemetery of the Emergency Army in Shelah and on the 28th of Tishrei 5718 (23.10.1957) he was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. After his death he was promoted to lieutenant. His child, who was born after his father’s fall, was named after him and even his nickname
