Bornstein, Ronen


Son of Nira and Reuven, was born on April 24, 1964, in Kibbutz Dafna, where he studied at the kibbutz elementary school, and later completed his studies in the mechanical track program at the regional high school “Har VeGai” “In his youth, Ronen was friendly and playful, a regular partner in games and pranks, surrounded by friends who loved him and was very fond of all his teachers. The father fell in the Yom Kippur War, and since then Ronen tried to follow in his father’s footsteps and to resemble him, and his younger brother grew up in the grandparents’ home on the kibbutz. Ronen was a devoted son on the one hand, to his grandmother, and on the other hand a caring and patient father for his younger brother. Ronen was recruited to the IDF in early November 1982. He volunteered to serve in a combat unit and was assigned to the Artillery Corps, after which he was sent to take part in an artillery course, but the military framework did not suit Ronen. On February 11, 1983, Ronen fell while serving and was buried in the cemetery in Kibbutz Dafna, leaving behind him a mother and brother, and his family published a booklet in his memory.
