Bornstein, Dov (Berla)


Was born on 13 April 1928 in Warsaw and immigrated to Israel at the age of five. In Tel Aviv he attended elementary and high school. He received his traditional and religious education in Talmud Torah. After graduating he worked as a mechanic for weaving machines. He was upright and generous. He was a member of the religious sports organization “Elitzur” and participated in the “Elitzur” naval unit and the organization’s orchestra. With the outbreak of the War of Independence, was one of the first fighters in the battle for the independence of the country and served in the “Kiryati” Brigade, participated in the conquest of Ramle and fought on many other fronts, On August 4, 1948, he came home for a few days’ vacation due to the bite, fell ill and died on the Fourth of Av, 5708 (August 9, 1948), and was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery Military unit in Nahalat Yitzhak.
