Bombiger, Paul-Pinchas
Paul-Pinchas (Pini) son of Sarah and Cornelio was born on October 15, 1954, in Pietra Nemet, Romania, and immigrated to Israel with his family in January 1965. He began elementary school in his hometown and completed his studies at the school Elementary “defenders” in Holon. Afterward he studied at the Ort vocational school in Holon and completed his studies at the agricultural high school in Lahavot Habashan and in Einat. Pini excelled in his studies and was loved by his friends and teachers. Even during the shelling of the Lehavot Habashan farm he knew how to keep his cool and did not panic. He was a sports fan and took a course in Karate. At the same time he was sensitive and had the soul of an artist. He loved classical music and modern music, played the guitar and took lots of landscape photographs. He was very active, as if he had spared every free hour, and was sociable, without any trace of selfishness. He was smiling and kind-hearted, full of joy and cheerful around him. He was connected to Einat and often visited her. Pinchas was drafted into the IDF in mid-February 1973. After completing basic training, he asked to volunteer for a combat unit, but due to reasons of physical fitness his request was rejected and the army responded to his entreaties and was assigned to the armored corps. In the Yom Kippur War, Pini took part in the difficult battles against the Egyptians in the Sinai, and arrived with our forces to the west of the Canal. (25.11.1973), was hit and killed by a shell that was fired. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. He was survived by a father, mother and brother. After his fall, he was promoted to corporal. In his letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Pinchas was a brave and alert infantry fighter. He did his job with dedication to the mission in recognition of his mission. “
