Bolda, Jacob

Son of Sophia, born to an old Zionist family in Basel, and Gershom, was born on December 12, 1928, in Basel, Switzerland, during the time of his parents, a veteran of the Yishuv, abroad. He was three months old when he arrived in Israel. His grandfather was one of the founders of Tel Aviv and his father served in the Jewish Legions during the First World War. Yaakov first studied at the elementary school in Gedera and later went on to high school. He was a member of the “Young Maccabee” and in the context of the settlement nucleus he went with his friends to Shfeya. He joined the Palmach, where he served as a company paramedic after finishing a paramedic course, and learned day and night to specialize in helping his comrades, and he accompanied convoys to kibbutzim in the Negev: Nirim, Man-Am, Yad- Mordechai, etc. From there he was transferred to the Jerusalem front, where he excelled in all his actions, devoted to every wounded person, and was not aware of his last breath: “The Fatherland precedes everything.” On April 23, 1948, – Samuel and brought to rest in the cemetery in Kiryat Anavim.
