Jonathan, son of Devorah and David, was born on 18.1.1949 in Ramat Gan. He began studying at the elementary school “Ora” and completed his studies at the “Merkaz” elementary school. Yehonatan, who was known as Yoni, was the only son of his parents and was therefore connected to the home and family. He loved his parents passionately and tried to spend as much time with them as he could. Yoni was a social-loving boy who had acquired many friends for his kindness and kindness. He was a member of the Scout movement and devoted considerable time to social activity. He was a young man with wide horizons, who aspired to acquire knowledge and education in many fields. He was especially interested in art, visited art and sculpture exhibitions, and watched theater and film productions. He was an excellent athlete who excelled in swimming and soccer. He also liked to watch soccer competitions. He was very interested in the life of the state and the society and wanted to contribute his strength and energy to improving the image of Israeli society. Therefore, he later joined the Labor Party’s young guard. Yehonatan was drafted into the IDF in August 1968 and assigned to the infantry corps, after completing a course for squad commanders, successfully completing a course for division commanders in the Golani Brigade and being awarded the rank of corporal. He was transferred to serve in the Intelligence Corps and successfully completed a course in combat intelligence, where he was engaged in research work, which required great skill, responsibility and judgment, and was very devoted to his job, organization and management skills. His commanders, who knew that he could be trusted and entrusted with important tasks, were meticulous and precise, and during his service in the IDF he tried to make frequent visits to his home. In the middle of August 1971, Yoni was released from regular service and assigned to the reserve unit of the Armored Corps as a combat intelligence officer, and that same year, after his discharge from the army, he was shocked by the fact that he was not a student at the pre-academic preparatory program at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
