Boaz, Zohar

Son of Haviva and Avraham, was born on February 5, 1964, in Kfar Saba. Zohar was the first male son of his parents, after four daughters were born before him. From childhood, Zohar was a mischievous child, but he showed his mischief only after feeling comfortable with the people around him. At first, when he came to a new place, he was “folding” inside his “shell”, but when he was comfortable he immediately started his pranks and was full of life. In kindergarten, Zohar was always at the center of every activity. Everyone loved him and it was nice to be with him. He began his studies at the Yitzhak Son of-Zvi elementary school. He was always the head of every group in school. He was “naughty outside the classroom, but as soon as he set foot in the classroom he immediately became a quiet, serious student,” his teacher described him when he came to console his family after his death. Zohar continued his studies in the junior high school of the Shazar School, and later at the ORT-Shapira high school, and in his spare time, he used to wear electronic devices and to comb wood and plastic. When the time came for him to enlist in the IDF, the soccer team tried to persuade him to ask him to place him in the nearby unit so that he could continue his training and games. However, Zohar was determined to volunteer for a combat unit. He promised the team members that he would be active again in football after his discharge from the army. Zohar volunteered for the Paratroopers Brigade and underwent the basic training of this corps. He took a few courses and was awarded the rank of First Sergeant. On April 2, 1985, while he was on a patrol in the Nabatiye region of Lebanon, Zohar was hit by a side charge. He fell in the line of duty and was brought to rest in the Kfar Saba military cemetery. He left behind his parents, sisters and brother. His family donated a Torah library to the Beit Yaakov synagogue in the Aliyah neighborhood in Kfar Sava
