Blumensohn, Menachem

Son of Rachel and Yaakov Was born on January 23, 1920, in the city of Frankfurt, Germany, where he completed his high school in 1937. In 1937 he went to agricultural training in the Netherlands prior to his immigration to Israel, and with the outbreak of World War II and the conquest of the Netherlands by the Germans, Was forced to hide with his young wife from the German occupation authorities and barely managed to get out of the clutches of the Nazis. In September 1945 he immigrated to Israel as an immigrant on a “Metro” that sailed from Toulon. He was educated on religion, and here he continued to bear the burden of Torah and mitzvot Upon the outbreak of the War of Independence, he took upon himself responsible positions in the security affairs, and upon the renewal of the fighting at the end of the first truce, the forces of Qawukji attacked the alignment of our forces in the Sejera area. (9.7.1948) As he pushed the attacking enemy, in the north of Sejera, as a machine gunner, the bullet of death hit him. He left behind a wife and two young children. Menachem was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Afula.
