Bloom, Abraham
Abraham, son of Clara and Benjamin Ze’ev, was born on 24 May 1949 in Jerusalem. Avraham was drafted into the IDF at the end of September 1967 and joined the Nahal Brigade. With his friends in the “Gilboa” nucleus, he did agricultural training at Kibbutz Ein Hanatziv. After basic training, he underwent a course for combat medics and participated in this role in a lot of operational activity. He took part in the pursuit of terrorists in the Jordan Valley and participated in the battles of the War of Attrition, in the stronghold on the banks of the bitter lake in the Sinai. At the end of September 1970, Avi was released from regular service and assigned to a reserve unit of the armored corps, as a combat medic. My father was an outstanding student, especially in the real professions. Until his fall, he completed three years of studies at the Technion, in the Faculty of Structural Engineering, and was about to receive his B.Sc. Thanks to his excellence, he was given a scholarship for the last year of school, but he can not enjoy it. During the Yom Kippur War, his unit participated in the battles in Sinai. On the 22nd of Tishrei 5740 (22.10.1973), on the eve of the cease-fire, it was attacked and killed by an enemy shelling of our forces. He was brought to eternal rest on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. Survived by a wife, Sarah, who had borne eight parents before his fall, parents and sister. After his fall, he was promoted to corporal.
