Blechman, Mordechai (Marius)


Son of Ruth and Elias, was born on 15.6.1954 in Bucharest, Romania. At the beginning of 1962, Mordechai and his parents immigrated to Israel. Mordechai, then seven and a half years old, entered first grade at the “Magenim” elementary school in the eastern Kiryat Haim transit camp. When the family moved to another neighborhood, Moti moved to the Degania school and was an outstanding student. When his mother came to a parents’ meeting to get an opinion on her son, the teacher said: “He is outstanding in all subjects! From an early age, Mordecai excelled in his developed sense of hearing. When he was about three years old, he already knew how to distinguish between a record and a record they played, and to read the name of the song. Moti played in the Gadna Orchestra and the Israel Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Dalia Atlas, and continued his studies at the Kiryat Haim High School, where he was also an outstanding student. In the evenings he took part in a folk dancing class at Kiryat Haim (in the “Nagler House”) and after graduating from high school, Moti was accepted to an academic reserve and studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in the Faculty of Social Sciences, In psychology, sociology and social anthropology, he graduated summa cum laude and continued to study for a degree After completing his studies at the university, Moti enlisted in the army, began his military service at Tel Hashomer, and later moved to serve at the Navy base in Haifa, but also failed in the practical part of the course, In 1982, he was discharged from the army and began working in the psychology unit in Haifa, and in May 1984 Mordechai was called up for reserve duty in the Golan Heights, and on 14 May 1984 he fell during his service.
