Blau, Avraham
Avraham, son of Tzippora and Chaim Baruch Blau, was born in 1930 in Safed to a well-established family. As a child, he studied at the Chatam Sofer Yeshiva in Safed and moved to Jerusalem as a student in the Hebron Yeshiva. He left school to earn his living, but he missed his studies all his life. At the age of 16, he joined the Irgun and took part in training and underground activities, and during the most difficult moments he kept his self-confidence, prayed daily, and even in the army camp kept his prayer times and kosher food. On 4 Sivan, June 11, 1948, he was hit by a barrage of bullets in the stomach. Only two days later his body was found and brought to rest in the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
