Blanc, Simcha


Son of Reuven and Tova. He was born on July 29, 1937 in Haifa, the parents of immigrants from Poland who immigrated to Israel in the 1929 riots as active members of a Zionist pioneering youth movement. The father was among the conquerors of the Haifa port. Simcha completed his studies at the “Aliyah” school in Daughter of Galim, and then completed his high school studies at the “Hugim” school there. He studied at the Beit Midrash for Beit Berl instructors in Tsofit. He completed an I.B.M technician course and served as a working instructor for these machines. He was an art and theater enthusiast, read a lot of literature and history, and was very interested in social and political matters. He was drafted into the IDF in January 1955 and served in the Nahal Brigade. He took a parachuting course and took part in the retaliatory action in 1955 in Qalqiliya and Khan Yunis. He participated in battles of the Sinai Campaign as a parachutist. Then his parachuting wings were set and he received a commendation. In reserve duty he was a machine gunner in an armored patrol unit. On the eve of the Six-Day War, he was one of the first volunteers to defend the homeland. On the third day of the battles, he was 28 Iyar 5727 (7.6.1967). He fell in battle in Nablus, Samaria. He left a wife and two daughters. Was buried in the military cemetery in Afula and was later transferred to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Haifa.
