Bitran, Emanuel

Son of Chana and Mordechai Avraham, Emanuel was born on the 14th of Adar, March 6, 1928 in Tel Aviv. Emmanuel was looking for a way to fight against foreign rule and joined the Irgun underground. With his comrades in the underground, he took part in several activities against the British. At the beginning of the War of Independence in the winter of 1948, he took part in the retaliation against the Arabs. On the 17th of Nissan, April 26, 1948 when he was hit from an enemy’s bullet, he managed to tell his friend in a weakened voice: “Every precious thing is bought with a lot of blood, and a homeland is all the more …” Emanuel was brought to rest in the Nahalat Yitzhak Military Cemetery
