Biton, Yoav


Ben Miriam and Yehuda. Born on 25.9.1967 in Herzlia, Ben-Shemini to a 10-year-old family, he was a bright, handsome and talented boy, raised and educated in Herzliya, attended the Bar Yohai State Religious elementary school and continued After graduating from the Neve Amiel Institute in Haifa, he became a member of the Bnei Akiva youth movement at the age of 15. He was a music lover, loved to write songs, sing and paint Yoav was drafted into regular service in March 1986 and was assigned to serve in the Combat Engineering Corps as a driver. Later moved Logistics Corps and completed his compulsory military service at the end of March 1989 with the rank of Corporal. He did reserve duty in the Golani unit. Yoav was called up for reserve duty at the beginning of May 1992. He fell during his duty on 14 May 1992 in defense of the northern settlements and was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Herzliya. He left five parents and four sisters – Meir, Shimon, Haim, Ilan, Eran, Yaffa, Shula, Zohar and Anat. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote about Yoav’s part in the security effort to protect the northern settlements from terrorists.
