Biton, Yashar (Silvan)

Biton, Yashar (Silvan)

Son of Meir and Marcel. He was born on the 24th of Av 5747 (24.7.1947) in the city of Marrakesh, Morocco. He studied at an ORT vocational school in Casablanca by profession. Before finishing this school he went to France and continued his studies at a school near Paris. Toward the end of his studies there, he vigorously sought to immigrate to Israel and serve in the army. Despite all his uncle’s aunts and aunts and his grandfather, with whom he exchanged letters, he did not listen to their advice – to finish his studies before he came to immigrate to Israel and have a profession in his hand. He was young enough to decide for himself on this crucial step in his life and after a long procedure he obtained his parents’ signature – and set sail for Israel. Upon his arrival he was sent to Kibbutz Mesilot near Beit Shean where he studied at the ulpan and finished it. Immediately afterwards, he was drafted into the IDF in May 1965 and served in the Combat Engineering Corps, and on July 7, 1967, Silvan fell from an airplane whip in the Suez Canal area. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Haifa
