Biton, Mordechai


Son of Sa’ada and Abraham. Mordechai was born in Casablanca, Morocco on April 30, 1927. He grew up in Morocco. He was head of a family in Morocco by virtue of being the eldest. Upon the death of his father he took care of his ten brothers and widowed mother. Mordechai made sure that the entire family immigrated to Israel following his younger brothers who had immigrated to Israel to the kibbutz. Mordechai immigrated to Israel in 1956, from Casablanca in Morocco directly to Kiryat Shmona. For a year he worked in agriculture in the Hula Valley. In 1957, it was necessary to train policemen and Mordechai joined a course that took place in Shfaram. He successfully passed the course even though he did not know the Hebrew language and became a policeman in the Kiryat Shmona police force. At first he worked as a sergeant, then as a sergeant in interrogations, and for a year he served in Abu Rudeis in the Sinai police. Mordechai was known for his hospitality. The entire police elite was hosted at his home at various events. In reality, Mordecai was a tough and serious man, he made sure to do everything he needed. He relied only on himself. Mordechai was honest and honest, took care of others before himself. Was a prime example of a policeman doing his job. He helped whoever turned to him and needed him. Mordechai was modest and found a common language with everyone, he was known for his considerate personality. Other prominent qualities that were characteristic of him: responsible and worgain, was involved in everything around him and made sure to enforce the required laws even if it personally hurt him. Sergeant Mordechai died of a stroke on February 3, 1979. He was buried at the cemetery in Kiryat Shmona.
