Biton, Maimon-Meidan


Maimon-Meidan, son of Esther and Menachem Biton, was born in 1994 in Netivot. On July 30, 2012, Meidan was drafted into the IDF. He served in the Armored Corps as a tank driver in the 7th Armored Brigade, Battalion 75. Meidan fell in battle during Operation Tzuk Eitan on 1 Av, July 28, 2014, when a mortar shell fired from the Gaza Strip exploded in the area. He was buried in the military cemetery in Netivot, He left behind his parents, sister and brother, and after his death, was brought to the rank of corporal. Ten minutes before his fall, he was photographed by Chabad men wearing tefillin. On March 24, 2015, a Torah scroll was added to the Bnei Akiva synagogue in Netivot in Meidan’s memory.
