Binder, Moshe
Moshe, the son of Leah Reizel and Zvi, Binder was born in 1915 in Kovel, Poland. From his childhood, he was educated in the spirit of Zionism. After graduating from public school and receiving a pioneering training program in Kovel, he immigrated to Israel in 1937. He joined Kibbutz Plugat HaYam near Haifa. Moshe worked in the port of Haifa and was among the conquerors of Hebrew labor. He continued working at the port even after leaving the kibbutz. In 1942 he married and moved to Kiryat Chaim. Despite the change in his place of residence, he continued to work in the port, which was fraught with danger, especially after the outbreak of the War of Independence. The work there was considered a Jewish outpost within an Arab bloc. More than once he would go to work under a shower of fire, but he knew no fear and did not give up this important place of work. On behalf of the Hagana he volunteered for night guard duty. Moshe fell on the 23rd of Adar I 5708 (March 4, 1948) in the lower city of Haifa on his way to work, and was put to rest at the military cemetery in Haifa. He left a wife and two children.
