Biger, Simcha-Shlomo


Son of Moshe and Esther. He was born on July 7, 1909 in Jerusalem. He studied at the “Etz Chaim” Talmud Torah school in Jerusalem and completed his studies at the Mizrachi Teachers’ Seminary in Jerusalem. Afterward he went to study medicine in Siena, Italy. During his time there, he was the rabbi, cantor and shochet of the Jewish community in the city. After being crowned with the title of Doctor, he returned to Jerusalem, married a wife and began to work in private practice, and in early August 1948, at the height of the War of Independence, he enlisted in the IDF and served in the Medical Corps. He served in many positions, including the commander of a medical command unit and chairman of a medical committee, and he fulfilled all his duties with dedication and success, and he was able to establish warm human relations with every person who came into contact with him on April 4, 1973. ), Major Simcha-Shlomo died during his service and was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, leaving a wife and four children.
