Bienstock, Morris

During the First World War, he volunteered in England for the Jewish Legion – the 38th Battalion of the King’s Rifles in the framework of the British Army, and arrived with his battalion in Eretz Israel in order to participate in its conquest by the Turks. He fought in battles on the way to Nablus and in the battle for the conquest of the Jordan River. At the beginning of October 1918, the battalion conducted an arduous journey on foot from the Jordan Valley to Jerusalem. Many of the soldiers, including Morris, were sick with fever and their condition worsened. On the 31st of October 1918, Morris died while performing his duties and was laid to rest in the British military cemetery in Qantara, Egypt.
