He joined the Hashomer Hatza’ir youth movement, and in his first steps he became a leader in the movement and devoted himself to it with all his passion for youth. On his social activities, so he asked for a lighter framework so that he could devote his time to training, so he enrolled in the Shevach vocational school, where he received pre-military training. True to the principles of his movement, Itzik decided to link his future with kibbutz life. He joined the “Einat” Nahal Brigade and did basic training in the army, where he was assigned to the Hashomer Hatzair branch in Petach Tikvah. At the end of this period, he returned to training, underwent a parachuting course and was assigned to a Parachute Infantry Brigade, participating in the liberation of Jerusalem during the Six-Day War and six years later in bloody battles across the Suez Canal. After joining compulsory army service, he joined Kibbutz Zikim and was sent to the Oranim seminar, and returned to the kibbutz as a qualified teacher and began working as a teacher in 1969. In 1969, he went abroad as a counselor at a summer camp of his movement in the United States. The trip took place in 1972 and covered parts of Europe, the United States, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Siam, India, Persia: When he came back from the trip, he was asked: After seeing so many and varied forms of life, which way of life would he prefer to choose for himself? He said that the best place to live was Zikim, but his desire to see the world was insatiable: he went on a safari trip, flying from London to Kenya, and from there – by car to South Africa – Itzik had only one bus Where he sank his yearning for activity. He grew tired of routine and lived an intensive social life. He wanted to know everything, to enjoy all the joys of life. He often dances at parties and often visits theater and film. As an avid music fan he always found ways to hear great concerts. Itzik was passionate and yet a pleasant person, not quarreling with anyone, did not hurt others, did not slander. Everything he did – honestly and sincerely. He always helped-without making petty calculations. He has a wonderful ability to create direct contact with people, children and adults alike. On the other hand, he had no difficulty living alone. On the 25th of Kislev, 5726 (25.11.1975), Itzik was killed in an active reserve duty, due to an airplane accident, while carrying out his duties. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. He left behind a mother and brother.
