Bezalel, Abba

Son of Yedida and Yehezkel was born on May 5, 1925, in the city of Hiraat, Afghanistan. When he was 3, he immigrated to Israel with his parents. The family settled in the Beit Yisrael neighborhood of Jerusalem. Served in the Jerusalem Brigade. After a short training period he was attached to a combat unit that protected Talpiot. He also participated in escorting convoys. Later he was transferred to Neve Ya’akov, north of Jerusalem, and took part in acts of harassment against enemy transport. In the attack of the Arab Legion on Neve Ya’akov on April 18, 1948, he fell and was buried in Neve Ya’akov, and on 25 November 1949 he was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
