Bernstein, Fruma

Bernstein, Fruma

She was born in Safed in 1860 to an ultra-Orthodox family. Her son Moshe was born at the same time as the wife of the Arab mukhtar. Since she died at birth, Fruma took the baby to her house and nursed it with her son. The two became brothers. At the outbreak of the 1929 riots, on February 26, 1920, Peretz burst into the house of the Arab mukhtar and killed his mother and his brother Menashe. The other son Shraga, who worked in the family fields at the time, managed to cross the Jordan River, to reach Tiberias and call for help, which came too late. Fruma was brought to rest with her son Moshe in the cemetery in Tiberias, near the grave of the father. She had two sons and three daughters.
