Bernheim, Danny

Danny, son of Rachel and Ze’ev, was born on the 24th of Tishrei 5710 (17.10.1949) in Kibbutz Yakum. Danny was drafted into the IDF in mid-July 1969 and assigned to the Nahal Brigadehome. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, Danny did not wait for the order, but hurried to his unit. He participated in the bitter battles in Sinai and was among the first to cross the canal. On October 20, 1973, Danny’s artillery battery was hit by a heavy bombardment, in a position west of the canal, near the bridges. Many soldiers were injured in the explosion. Danny, who wanted to help evacuate the first casualties, was also hit and killed. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in the universe. He left behind a wife, daughter, father, mother and two sisters.
