Berna, Zvi (Henryk)


Son of Mottel and Dvora. He was born on November 29, 1933 in Miedzyrzec, Poland. He immigrated to Israel with his family in 1957. Henryk studied and was educated in Poland. During the Second World War he was with his family in Russia and at the end of the war returned to Poland. He enlisted in the Polish army and served in the Symbol School. Henryk had been a sports enthusiast since childhood. Participated in sports teams in the field of light athletics and soccer in Poland. When he completed his service in the Polish army, he began working in a government institution for urban transportation. Later he married Rita, and four months before the family immigrated to Israel, their eldest son was born. In Israel, the family settled in Jerusalem, and Henrik worked hard to maintain his family with dignity. He worked in every job offered to him, and he began to earn money to burn the family as a construction worker. He even treated his son to allow his wife to complete her studies at the university. He was talented and entrepreneurial, progressed quickly in his work and reached a position of managing large projects in Jerusalem. Many neighborhoods in Jerusalem were built by him. Henryk liked animals, and every abandoned animal found by the neighborhood resident was brought to Henryk’s court, where he was treated and loved. For many hours of his spare time he devoted himself to fishing – his favorite hobby. Henryk was drafted into the IDF in July 1959 and assigned to the Infantry, where he was called to reserve duty every year and participated in battles for Jerusalem in the Six-Day War and border security in the East during the Yom Kippur War (9.9). 1976) Henryk fell while serving in the military cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem and left behind a wife, three sons, a father and a sister. In the unit, he was a squad leader and in fact willingly and enthusiastically filled every other role he needed, and Henrik had no competitors in ball games and especially football. He spent many days in an isolated outpost, and Henrik took an active part in organizing the social activities and maintaining a high morale. “
