Berman, Ehud (Udi)
Ben Hanita and Winston. Born in Jerusalem on the 8th of Kislev 5731 (8.12.1970), his father was born in England, works for the Bank of Israel and is Hanita, a senior social worker in the Ministry of Health, a warm and loving family, who began his studies at the Ein Kerem Elementary School He was a member of the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed youth movement and was a leading figure in the youth movement, and before he enlisted, he decided to donate his year of service to the Borgeta moshav. And he loved him, and Udi read books a lot and was involved in sports – basketball, swimming and a water ball At the end of July 1990, Udi was drafted into compulsory military service in the Israel Defense Forces, and he fulfilled his great ambition and volunteered for the Shimshon unit. He was very proud of being a fighter in the unit and very happy at the base. His comrades in the unit testified that Udi was a comfortable person who understood and got along with everyone. He was a professional and serious soldier on operational issues. Despite all this, he was vulnerable and very sensitive. On 27.4.1992, Udi fell in the line of duty and was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. Survived by his parents two brothers – Ilan and Noam, and sister – Hila. He was twenty-one years old when he fell. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “Ehud was part of a group of fighters engaged in a difficult and complicated war, which involves great tension and great strength. At a high level of risk and personal sacrifice, Ehud performed all the tasks assigned to him in a good and professional manner, while willing to help his friends … Ehud remained part of us, part of the same group that went through it for a long and difficult journey … Friends talk about his character.
