Berman, Aryeh

Berman, Aryeh

Son of Sima and Daniel, was born on August 4, 1913 in a Turkish city, Galicia, where he graduated from the elementary school, and at the age of 16 joined the Hashomer Hatzair movement in Poland. Aryeh immigrated to Israel in 1935 and joined Kibbutz Gat, where he was discovered to be a model laborer: an expert in unusual craftsmanship, humble in his ways, the best of his pleasure in his free time. On February 15, 1948, a caravan left Maghat on the way to Rehovot, where Aryeh drove a truck behind the armored vehicle at the head of the convoy. Faluja noticed the checkpoint across the road and immediately opened fire at them, and the truck was hit and Aryeh jumped out of the car and crawled toward the armored vehicle, next to the armored vehicle, and was hit by a cluster of bullets that took his life.
