Berler, Ze’ev


Son of Fanny and Dov, was born on May 1, 1929, in Romania, and immigrated to Israel in 1946 with the Betar group who settled in Shuni, shortly after his arrival in Eretz Israel, he joined the Irgun Zvai Leumi. He took part in raids and confiscations of weapons from a British military camp in Pardes Hannah, as well as in an attack on a military train from which a large quantity of ammunition was confiscated, and in each and every position he acquired the name of a daring and talented fighter. On May 16, 1948, in one of the first battles in the city of Ramle, he fell while he was retreating. At first he was a missing person and only on 11 Iyar 5712 (6.5.1952) was he laid to rest in a grave in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul
