Benyamini, Yitzhak (Issachar)

He was born on the 22nd of Sivan 5758 (22.5.1958) in the moshav in the western Negev, where he began his education at the moshav elementary school, and in 1965 the family moved to Jerusalem and Yitzchak continued his studies at the religious school of Droshim Zion. Yitzhak was a young amateur sportsman, played soccer, was a swimmer and was very willing to help others, and was drafted into the army in August 1976 and assigned to serve in the Artillery Corps. After basic training and artillery he served as a driver of a moving cannon. In 1988, he joined the ranks of the career army and returned to the uniform of the maintenance corps, where he was appointed to maintenance in his unit. Yitzhak met a friend from Moshav Shablim in the Negev and was about to marry her. He fell during his service on the 20th of Tishrei 5710 (20.10.1989), in a road accident near Moshav Talmey Bilu, and was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, and placed three parents and two sisters, , Mordechai, Malka and Dalia In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the commander of his unit wrote: “Your son was an exemplary soldier, very responsible and devoted, acceptable and loved by everyone.” Moreover, the commander emphasized Yitzhak Issachar’s excellence in helping others.
