Benyamini, Yehuda (“Dudu”)

Benyamini, Yehuda (“Dudu”)

Son of Aziz and Jairn. Was born on April 1, 1944 in the city of Sax in Persia. The family immigrated to Israel in 1950. Yehuda graduated from the Beit Yaakov elementary school but due to the difficult economic situation in the family he could not continue his studies with all his wishes. Since he could not continue to study on his own, he said he would bring his younger siblings to school so that they would learn and have a good future in life, and he encouraged them by giving them gifts so that they would receive a better diploma. In November 1961 he served in the Golani Brigade and was brave, disciplined and ready to help his comrades when necessary. After he was discharged from the army, he would go to reserve duty. On receiving the order on the eve of the Six-Day War, he was in the mortar division and on the second day of the battles, on the 27th of Iyar 5727 (June 6, 1967), he fell during a battle near the Italian Hospital in Jerusalem. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. His memory was mentioned in the publication of the workers’ union “Yesodot” and in the local council of Raanana.
