Benisti (Kalifa), Edmund (Eddie)


Edmund (Eddie), son of Nina and Albert, was born on May 10, 1946 in Sapi, Morocco, where he completed his elementary and secondary education in Casablanca, in a vocational school in the field of techno-mathematics. He worked for a short time at the Jewish Agency in Marseilles, and in 1967 he immigrated to Israel alone, where he married a wife and asked to establish a family. In the studio, he moved to Netanya, where he worked in a restaurant and earned enough money to support his family, and his eldest son was born in 1968. He wanted to open a restaurant with a friend, Edmunds was drafted into the IDF in early 1969 and assigned to the Artillery Corps. After completing basic training, he was sent to artillery and barricade courses and was finally certified as a gunner. Eddie served only three months in regular service, because he was a relatively new immigrant and a relative of his age. In early 1970 he was discharged from regular service and assigned to reserve forces in a battalion of battalion commanders, and together with this battalion he left for reserve duty, and at the end of 1971 his second son was born and he was an exemplary father and husband, loyal and caring for his family. His battalion of supporters was sent to the front and there was bread to help stop the advance of enemy forces. The battalion went through all the braking battles and then took part in a breakout across the border. On the 22nd of Tishrei 5734 (22.10.1973), when he fought in the Syrian enclave about 30 km from Damascus, his fire was suddenly extinguished and his wadi was killed and brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Netanya. Sons, parents, two sisters and two brothers, and after being shot down, he was given the rank of corporal.
