Ben-Zvi (Kind), Yaakov (“Yankele”),
Son of Zvi and Ita. Was born on January 3, 1928, in Transylvania, where he was orphaned by his father and then raised by his mother, who at the age of 14-15 found himself alone in a concentration camp, When the war ended, he was released from the camp, and in 1945 Yaakov arrived in Israel and joined Kibbutz Yagur, where he joined the Haganah a year later. Yaakov joined the IDF in early May 1948 and continued his service until his last day, starting with serving as a soldier in the Carmeli brigade and later as a sergeant in the battalion. He excelled in caring for all his subordinates and treated all the soldiers with pain. After a few years he went to an officer’s course and an intelligence course, and then immersed himself in his studies. He always wanted to advance in all areas: his work, his studies and his military service (and even attained the rank of major). He was very devoted to his job and did his work efficiently. Yaakov completed an academic year of study in the framework of the IDF’s studies in Tel Aviv and took the matriculation exams, despite the difficulties involved, because he had a will and a decision. When he was hospitalized for three years of suffering and agony, but he suddenly suffered severe pain and was taken to the hospital for hospitalization, According to the order of the physician, he died on March 27, 1970. He left a wife and two children. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Haifa.
