Ben-Zvi (Bezozonski) , Eliezer


Son of Zvi and Dvora. He was born in 1949. He completed his studies at the “Remez” elementary school in Yehud, where he studied at the Michmoret naval school and completed third grade in mechanics, and was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in September 1966, “Showed that he had an attraction to the sea. In April 1967 he was ordained as a diver. He went to England and joined the “Decker” team and then proved himself an excellent diver and his devotion and loyalty as a friend. The day came when Dakar had to return to the port of the house. But on the sea route between Gibraltar and Haifa, the connection with it was severed and was never renewed. This was on the 24th of Tevet 5728 (25.1.1.968). The Chief Military Rabbinate determined that the date of Eliezer’s death, in the course of fulfilling his duties together with the rest, was the 29th of Tevet 5728 (30.1.1968). Since Eliezer was one of the missing members of the team, he was assigned a memorial monument in the memorial to the Dakar people in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. His picture was presented in Eran Shorer’s book “Six Days in Decker.” On the 28th of June 1999, after years of searching, the INS Dakar submarine was found on the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea, at a depth of 2,900 meters on its planned sailing route and 250 miles from the port of Haifa. A space whose burial place is unknown.
