Ben-Ze’ev, Gad

Son of Shoshana and Yitzhak. Born on the 9th of Av, August 3, 1968, and grew up in Beit Yanai. In January 1987, Gadi enlisted in the IDF. He was drafted as a pilot in the Sayeret Matkal commando unit until his release in 1990. Some time after his release, he was offered a return to the unit. Gadi, who responded to the challenge, went to the officers course in August 1992 and returned to the unit. In December 2000, after his discharge, he began working for the Defense Ministry. After his death, the family received a citation for a unique project designed and led by Gadi. In May 2004, Gadi fell ill with leukemia, and after a week, on the 7th of Sivan, 26.5.2004, he suddenly died of complications from the disease. He was 36 years old.
