Ben Zachary, Shimon


Son of Rachel and Chaim. Was born on May 30, 1965 in Sderot as one of a pair of twins who were born to a family blessed with 12 children. He began his studies at the Maoz Elementary School and continued his high school studies at the Ort Comprehensive General School in the frameworks program. He was a soccer fan and played for the Hapoel Sderot youth team and listened to tapes of Mizrahi music. Shimon was drafted into the army in July 1983 and was assigned to serve in the General Staff, and after a while he was transferred to the Military Police, Shimon fell during his duty on June 7, 1985 in a base in Gaza, The military commander of the Sderot cemetery, and his parents, five brothers – Maxim, Yossi, Charlie, Herzl and Meir – and six sisters – Suzanne, Esther, Miriam, Shula, Yaffa and Zehava – Shimon, who carried out with special enthusiasm all the positions he was assigned and volunteered for additional missions, as well as his willingness to serve in Gaza despite the low vacations and the high level of security
