Ben-Yosef, Shlomo (Tabachnik, Shalom)

Shlomo Son of-Yosef (Shalom Tabachnik), son of Rachel and Yaakov Yosef Tabacknik, was born on May 7, 1913, in Lutsk, Poland. In August 1937, he immigrated to Eretz Israel. His letters to his mother were filled with optimism and joy of life, as well as sorrow that he could not support her. These were the days of the bloody riots that began in 1936. Arab mobs continued to shed Jewish blood wherever they were given, and as a result, the unrest and the demand for reprisals increased, and the members of the “Rosh Pina” company, known for its activist detachment among the companies, Benf-Yosef did not stand out, especially in light of the general unrest, but after the murder of five Jews who were traveling in a cab on the way to Rosh Pinna, Safed (March 28, 1938), he joined two members of the company and together they planned a reaction. , The three left for Rosh Pina, Safed, attacked an Arab car and threw a grenade at it. Shlomo Son of-Yosef was sentenced to death and brought to Acco Prison, and amid the wave of protests and storms that followed the verdict, Shlomo maintained his peace of mind. On the 29th of June, 1938, he was borught to the gallows and he was buried in the Rosh Pina cemetery.
