Ben Yosef (Leibshin), Dov (Boris)

Son of Yosef. He was born in Riga in Latvia in 1914. He was a member of the Betar youth movement and after his pioneering training he immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1937 with a group of Betar youth from his town. After a while he was appointed deputy commander of the company in the village and took over the guard organization of his company in the peasants’ vineyards. He showed diligence and skill in planning the positions, placing the guards, distributing arms and ammunition, and making surprise visits to the positions to check the alertness of the guards. At the same time, he joined the local branch of the Irgun Zvai Leumi (National Military Organization) and worked with great dedication. He was modest in his manner and timid, and he expressed his opinions in company fiction with simplicity and deliberation. In the midst of the events of 1938, when he and three of his friends were traveling in a wagon to the orchards of Barki near Zichron Yaakov, he was shot from ambush and killed, and fell on the 24th of Elul 5639 (20.9.1938) and was brought to eternal rest in the Zichron Yaakov cemetery.
