Ben-Yehuda, Yoel
Yoel, son of Miriam and Yaakov, a veteran of Pardes Hanna, was born on August 23, 1951. He studied at the Yeshurun elementary school in Pardes Hanna and at the Bnei Shmuel yeshiva in Hadera. He graduated from the Menashe regional college. Yoel was a quiet, gentle boy, but sometimes also mischievous. Thanks to his diligence, his excellent memory and intelligence, he became an excellent student, loved by his teachers and classmates. During his yeshiva studies he worked in various places, and in the money he earned, he acquired reading and study books. One of his hobbies, which he used to devote most of his spare time, was handicraft. He specialized in assembling wooden furniture and built a buffet, a library, a library, tables and chairs in his parents’ home. He was also fond of writing and for a long time had written his impressions and experiences in writing and used to send them as letters to his friends and family. He was a cheerful, sociable boy, a dedicated son to his parents and an active member of the company. Yoel was drafted into the IDF in mid-May 1969 and volunteered for the Armored Corps, and after completing basic training, he was sent to one of the armored corps units in the south and was very fond of his commanders. He was the first to win the first prize in a competition held between his unit and during the period of his military service he tried very hard not to worry about his parents, He often visited the house and never complained to them about difficulties during his vacations In the middle of May 1972, Yoel completed his compulsory service and went to civilian life, where he completed a computer programming course and began working as a project manager for the construction of high buildings in Hadera. In the course of the Yom Kippur War, Yoel rushed to join his unit on the Sinai front. He took part in the braking battles in the central sector and in the breakthrough to the canal. On October 16, 1973, he was injured in the shelling and killed. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Pardes Hannah. Survived by his parents and four sisters. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Yoel was a soldier, a commander and a member, for example, and in his energy, at his initiative and in his good Lev, swept his entire team and his comrades with every task he was assigned.”
