Ben-Yehuda, Shimon
Son of Yaffa and John. He was born on July 1, 1966 in Persia. The youngest son of a six-boy family. When Shimon was four years old, the family immigrated to Israel and established their home in Hadar Yosef. Shimon attended the David Yellin Elementary School and the Max Payne Professional High School in the automotive mechanics course. He was very eager to enlist in the IDF and wanted to serve as a car mechanic, believing that in this job he would be able to make the most of the military system. He went on basic training, integrated into the military framework and met all the tasks that were assigned to him. He was stationed in the Ordnance Corps and was sent to serve as a mechanic in the division headquarters. His commander at the time wrote: “Shimon was a disciplined soldier, did his job in the best possible way, a model soldier who was an example to all his friends who worked with him.” During his entire service in the IDF, Shimon felt a great deal of responsibility for his parents, and despite his concern for the family, he continued to carry out all his duties in the unit, and on the 10th of Av 5785 (August 10, 1985) Shimon was killed during his service. – the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul, leaving behind his parents and four brothers – Mordechai, Rahamim, Herzl and Nissan
