Ben-Yehuda (Adeli), Eliyahu


Son of Jahan and Aaron. Born in 1917 in Karamensha, Iran, he studied at the Alliance elementary school in 1936. He joined a group of young Bukharan Jews who immigrated to Israel in 1936. Eliahu settled in Afula, worked as a construction worker and lived there for several years. He moved to Tel Aviv in 1940. He volunteered for the British Army in 1940 and was assigned to the British Expeditionary Corps, and since 1941 he was found missing on Greek soil, later known as a German prisoner of war in Crete. He is a maklan – a hero whose burial place is unknown.
