And in Kiryat Ono, where he also had strong friendships with friends, whom he used to amuse himself with pranks and mischievousness, during which time he loved sports, especially swimming. He went to his mother, who had separated from his father a few years earlier and returned to her parents. In his final year he returned to live with his father and family, who were on a sabbatical in Florida. In the United States, Eyal joined a kindergarten teacher with a Jewish friend from his class, continuing the tradition of the family, which was rooted in agriculture in the land of Be’er Tuvia, and was swept away by the idea of ”making millions.” He decided to return to Israel, to serve in the IDF and to express his Israeli identity in this way, and he criticized the emptiness of American youth, which involved money and entertainment. He was assigned to the Gadna base in Sde Boker where he tried to prove that he was suited to serve in a combat unit, so that he would be transferred to it. He received compliments from his company commander at the recruits’ base and was an outstanding trainee in his department. At that time, Eyal discovered special mental powers. He held his position as a quartermaster and sanitation officer perfectly, although he did not want that role. Eyal liked both the staff and the students. At this stage, he began to accept his role, and was convinced that things could be improved in any area in which he was responsible. On the day of Tu Bishvat (8.12.1984) Eyal fell and he was 20 years old. Eyal, who was so outstanding as a friend, was killed in an arms attack on the IDF. By his good friend at the Gadna base in Sde Boker. Eyal was brought to rest in the cemetery in Be’er Tuvia. Lay down parents and four brothers and sisters. The commander of the Gadna camp, in place of his service, said: “You have the right to be a full partner in the task of educating the young generation to achieve Zionist fulfillment and Zionism, and to preserve the good and good part of the Jewish people here in Eretz Israel. As a soft young man who was cut off in his lifetime, you were able, in a short period of time, to act with high quality, honesty and devotion that many others would like to do. ” For this is a gift to a most exalted God. It contains many things, but above all, the ability to deviate from selfishness, and to appreciate all that is precious and noble in others “(this page is part of the Yizkor memorial project held by the Ministry of Defense)
