Ben-Yair, Yitzhak (“Zaki”)


Son of Yehuda and Tamar. He was born on 15 August 1940 in the city of Casablanca in Morocco. The family immigrated to Israel in 1950. After Yitzhak graduated from elementary and high school in Be’er Sheva he came to Tel Aviv and studied at the Faculty of Humanities at its university; When he reached the third year of his studies in education, he found a living in teaching at the Afikei Daat high school in Be’er Sheva, and he was the only breadwinner of his sick mother. Was drafted into the IDF in August 1959, and after his regular service he joined the regular army and served for only six months, during the Six-Day War he was in reserve duty, and on the sixth day of the battles, he fell on the 10th of June 1967. He left a wife when she was seven months pregnant. He was buried in the military cemetery in Bari and later moved to the eternal rest of the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva. In the Beersheba Municipality (“Here is Be’er Sheva”), in the “Honor for the Fallen – Condolences for Families” section, his memory was raised.
