Ben-Tolila, Carlos-Shalom


Carlos-Shalom, son of Esther and Jacob Son of-Tolila, was born on December 18, 1951 in Tangiers. In 1960, his family immigrated to Israel and settled in Bene Beraq, where Carlos-Shalom completed his studies in the religious high school, in accordance with his family’s heritage. From early childhood he was prominent in his ability to make warm contacts with the people around him and share his experiences. He was supposed to begin his medical school studies in 1973. In the Yom Kippur War, Carlos was the driver of a tank-commander in his unit, which fought on the “Tartar-Lexicon” route in the central sector of the Suez Canal. On the 20th of Tishrei 5734 (October 16, 1973), Carlos-Shalom was killed in a battle on the West Bank of the Suez Canal and was brought to rest in the Kiryat Shaul cemetery.
