Ben-Simhon, Eliyahu
Son of Rene and Yekutiel. Eliahu was born in Morocco on July 1, 1931. He attended the Alliance School in Meknes, Morocco, and immigrated to Israel on December 23, 1948. Four days later he joined the army, served in the air force in Ramat David until 5.2.1951 and was discharged as a corporal. On December 1, 1952, Eliahu was in Kibbutz Ein Gev and worked in agriculture. From there he moved with a youth group to Kibbutz Afikim where he worked in a metal workshop. In June 1954 he left the kibbutz. Eliahu joined the police career in August 1954. He was stationed in Company B and managed to serve for less than two months. On the 29th of Tishrei, 5769 (29.9.1954), Eliyahu was on a tour of the Jerusalem Corridor (Mevo’ot in Beit Bar Giora) along with another SD when machine-gun fire was opened at them across the Jordanian border. A bullet hit Elijah’s head and killed him, and his body was found by a Border Police unit that later combed the area. Elijah was twenty-three years old when he fell. He was laid to rest in the cemetery on Mount Herzl, Jerusalem.
