Ben-Shoham, Moshe

Moshe Son of-Shoham, son of Tzippora and David was born in 1885 in Istanbul, Turkey. In 1913 Moshe married a wife, they had a daughter and a son. In 1920 he immigrated with his family and his brother’s family to Eretz Israel. The two families settled in Neveh Shalom, near JYaffo Port. Moshe and his brother Yomtov were members of Hagana, and they worked in shoemaking. On the 23rd of Nisan, 5721 (May 21, 1921), when the riots broke out in Yaffo, the Arabs entered the apartment of the two families and beat Moshe and his brother Yomtov. Because of their heroic defense, the women and children managed to escape. The two were brought to rest in a mass grave in the old cemetery in Tel Aviv. Moshe left behind a wife, son, daughter and sister.
